Larapinta Paintings 2023
This series of paintings was developed as a result of a September 2022 artist’s expedition to the West MacDonnell Ranges. The expedition was an immersive experience of drawing and mark-making in direct observation of the landscape. Working from this material in the studio the landscape evolved beyond a subject into an exploration of form, emotion, and perception. This led to compositions that embody a profound sense of movement, inviting viewers to contemplate the relationship between land and memory.
